[gag me with a spoon]
Sep. 21st, 2005 11:30 amI have to rant cause this shit is bananas.
I love IchiRuki, but this is just too much. What the fuck has happened to Bleach?
Rukia's pep talk to Ichigo makes me want to gag. She angsted for over a hundred chapters and she talks to Ichigo like that. GAG. Isn't Hitsugaya the captain of the group? Wouldn't he want to keep his people together? Was this chapter needed? Why hasn't Ishida been around to have a reaction to his injured friends? Why hasn't anyone noticed that Ishida's gone? Why does Kubo keep introducing plot points and plot developments and then leaving them to die?
Rukia is really pushing it. She started out great. Spunky and fun and a nice foil for Ichigo. Then she went back to Soul Society and devolved into crappiness. Now she's back and acting like the Queen Fuckin' Bee and it's just not working for me. At all.
This new arc has got to stop sucking. Like now. I mean just about the time I really get into the arc and get excited about where it's going something happens which makes me want to drop it.
A little part of my love for Bleach just died. I always loved the fact that no one in Bleach was really set on anyone else as far as love and junk. I mean... yeah, Orihime likes Ichigo and yeah, Renji is hung up on Rukia and yeah, Rangiku and Gin and angsty for each other, but other than that it's sorta "stated, but not stated" so you can draw you're own conclusion about it. That whole "that's the 'you' I keep in my heart, Ichigo" made me want to gag. I mean... I thought that was something Rukia said... that sounds like something Orihime would say. Might as well just tattoo "I love Ichigo" on her damn forehead.
This arc is starting to look like a bad fanfic. Isshin is a Shinigami, Ishida getting powers back, Ichigo and Rukia acting totally OOC, Shinigami showing up at Karakura High. Aizen sending people to kill Ichigo when he had the chance to kill him like a month ago Bleach time. I hope to everything that it comes out they were fishing for someone else, cause that's the only way it's going to make any kind of sense at all. >_>
This has been the lamest week in Bleach ever. Filler episode (granted it had Kanonji and Kon, but the only good part was Kon in the Sailor Scout outfit and Jinta and Ururu in their Karakura Ranger gear) and a lame chapter.
Bring back Ishida before I totally lose interest. kthxbai. Give me some IshiHime moments cause one of the only ships that doesn't make me want to hurt someone. And someone go find Hanatarou. Apparently he fell off the face of the earth... I think Hiyori and Hirako fell off too. That just pisses me off. Hanatarou wasn't even there when Ichigo and them left Soul Society for fuck's sake... I thought they were friends.
This is why I hate stories like this... the support characters are always 175 times more interesting and likable than the main character yet they always, always get shafted.
EDIT: So Isshin kicks Ichigo in the face and Ichigo acts like an angsty bitch... but Rukia kicks him in the face and the world is sunshine and rainbows.
I seriously don't care what happens, but this arc needs to start moving. It's been nearly 20 chapters and we've had a few big things pop up and nothing has been done with them. It's like they never happened.
This sickly sweet chapter has nearly put me off IchiRuki completely. If they're going to bring Rukia back just for crap like this she should have just stayed away.
And I hate that she made him apologize to Orihime for no fucking reason. Orihime needs to get stronger on her own and not fall back on Ichigo and everyone else. alsejfl;kdasjf;kldsjlk;fjads;lfj;dslajf

Date: 2005-09-21 12:58 pm (UTC)But I worship Kubo Tite. Like a god. He wouldn't do this to me...?
"You're the one I keep in my heart"? ...Please, tell me you jest. And it must at least have some of the Karakura Shinigami.

Date: 2005-09-21 01:02 pm (UTC)As I stated elsewhere, I love that Rukia is back. That said, I don't know if the recent direction is Kubo's intention or if there is some back office political wrangling going on. Even some of the art doesn't look like Kubo's. For proof: Look at the last pic of Rukia in this chapter and last chapter. It doesn't look like Rukia AT ALL. It looks like someone else drew her.
That whole "that's the 'you' I keep in my heart, Ichigo" made me want to gag.
It is the little things that is driving me a little nuts and that line just doesn't seem like Kubo at all. There has to be another way to translate it, because that doesn't seem Kubo-esque at all.
To be contradictory though, I like that it is Rukia who is snapping at Ichigo. Why? Because she knows what makes him tick and even if she doesn't, Renji does. And Ichigo likes boldness and abuse. He can't handle coddling. I like that Rukia takes it right to him. She could be angsty over herself, because she didn't see herself as important. Ichigo, on the other hand, is very important important than herself and she knows that he can't waste too much time on doubts.
Overall, though, I have been increasingly frustrated since the Hounded Priestess chapter. I know that Orihime fans were thrilled, but honestly, what was the point of it except to highlight how useless she can be? AT the very least, she should have gotten one good hit and then started getting weepy. And Tatsuki's background appearances? Even more frustrating. Chad? Honestly, he should be dead by now. The foreshadowing was there at the beginning with parakeet boy.
Ishida could save it all though. He's done it before and he can do it again. Now that Kubo's brother has gone home, maybe Kubo can get back to tending to his manga because the assistants are screwing it up.
Gads, this turned into an almost rant and I do apologize, but this has been brewing for me for awhile.

I was actually hoping that with those chapters Orihime and Chad might get out of his rut their characters have been in since the beginning of the story. But given Ichigo's lines at the end of 196 I'm starting to doubt that.
I was happy that Orihime finally took a couple of hits and got hurt. Sometimes you have fall off the bike before you get determined enough to master it. I thought that if she got hurt maybe it would help push her forward to get stronger and be able to stand and defend the people she cares about, but of course Ichigo has to protect her so that'll never happen.
Chad... Chad has been screwed repeatedly by the story. He's come to be the guy who gets beat so Ichigo can look good. He started out a strong guy with a soft side who could kick some serious ass, but ever since that "Chad can't lose" crap he's been devolved into cardboard.
I'm more upset that so many things have been brought into this new arc and nothing has happened with them. They're introduced, mentioned over two chapters, and then dropped and it moves on to something else. Why coudln't we take a chapter and give an actual transition between the Allenkar leaving and the Shinigami showing up at school? I mean it's just like there's all this info but it's not going anywhere. Hell we could have waited a chapter between the end of 195 and this goings on here just to give us something. We've been shoved into this arc, had info shoved at us with no explanation, and are shoved off to the next thing before we can ask any questions.
I really hope that Ishida does save it. His chapters in Soul Society really helped put some drama back into the story and it was, in my most humble opinion, the best fight in that arc because of the emotion and drama of it. I really hope that his reappearance brings my interest in this arc back.
