There are no words to describe how incomplete my life is every moment I do not own this:

Yes, Paul and George are slightly terrifying and yes, there is a random crocodile, but look at it! It bleeds awesome. It has a crocodile for no apparent reason!

I've actually been watching episodes of the old cartoon on YouTube... man that's a special type of awesome. Every episode consists of at least one of them getting into trouble and the others doing absolutely nothing whatsoever to help because they're too busy standing around singing.

Like the Money episode... they get paid and John decides to put the money in Ringo's pocket and sew it closed for safe-keeping. They go to a carnival thing and Ringo gets chased around by some guy in a mask while John and Paul just stand around and sing. Ringo ends up on the carousel and the money ends up flying out of his pocket. In the end it's revealed that the guy in the mask was George and when Ringo is all "oh no I lost the money!" they're all "silly Ringo, we'd never trust you with real money! it was fake!"

Then there's the Help! episode which involves Paul chasing down some French guy who is stealing fashion designs and they end up on the Eiffel Tower... Paul is falling off the Eiffel Tower so the other three stay on the ground and sing.

And it goes on from there... random Japanese ponds that shrink people, dancing bears obsessed with Paul, elephants obsessed with Paul, forced marriages and pineapple canneries, beautiful aliens, ruining the lives of everyone on Penny Lane, making wine with music, Robin Hood... it's amazing and I weep because it'll probably never be released on DVD.

Also not gonna lie... Ringo is the best part (as usual when it comes to things like this.)

Something I forgot to mention in yesterday's post...

There are six of us in class working on medical coding at the moment. We're all about ready to pull our hair out trying to learn how to do it as our instruction book tells us and get through the test over it. Our teacher arranged for us to tour one of the local clinics to let us see how they really do it.

We learned that while we're working our asses off trying to learn it... the ones they have actually working in the departments have had no training in it whatsoever. They've just been put there and learned it hands on.

Needless to say, we were no pleased by that fact. But I feel that if they can do it without knowing anything about it beforehand, then I can certainly do it after going through this stupid book. Which is good since I was leaning toward coding after talking with my teacher at the beginning of the school year. (I like that I'd be working pretty much by myself.) But after starting the work on it, I was frustrated that I was struggling with the book. But now I feel ten times better about it.

So I went to Paris (Texas) yesterday and ended up doing some shopping. I bought some new jeans and a few shirts, a new purse (it's purple and spiffy~) and I ended up getting my 2010 calendar. I went with The Beatles over House this time... mostly because I couldn't find a House one at Hastings. It has some nice pictures of the early Beatles with a few from later on for the last couple of months. I just like that it has the spiff umbrella picture for May.

We're going to Texarkana tomorrow to go shoe shopping since the shoe stores in Paris suck.

I only have class three days this week, but I think I'm gonna try and work on Thursday and Friday just for the extra hours on my paycheck.

I've also go to go to Oklahoma City on the 19 and 20 for the state BPA Fall Conference. I'm kind of excited about going since there's going to a kind of small group and I really like just about everyone that's going. Plus it means more shopping~.

I've been trying to work on my Christmas list, but all I have so far is an iPod dock with an alarm clock and The Beatles Remastered Box Set... and that's about it. There's not really anything else I'm dying to have at the moment. Maybe something will strike my fancy before then.

I also got my paid journal back. Finally. I spent part of the morning hunting up icons and I'm up to about 30 I think.

New TV season!!!!

Community - I haven't seen last night's episode, but I did love the pilot. What can I say? I love Joel McHale.

Modern Family - Funniest new series. I don't even know how many times I laughed at this. I really need to see it again cause I know I missed some jokes.

Cougar Town - I wasn't gonna watch this one, but I decided to go ahead and round out the hour with ABC and I must say I was surprised. I do enjoy Courtney Cox so I imagine that helped, but Busy Phillipps and the kid playing Cox's son were the best parts.

Flash Forward - Hello sexytimes. The entire pilot was like sexy sexytimes. Joseph Fiennes and John Cho walking around all srs faced and injured and then the epic Jack Davenport tease! Curse you, ABC!

House - I thought the premiere was pretty darn good. Hugh Laurie did an awesome job and had a massive =D on my face during Wilson's scene. Didn't care much for the "romance" subplot. The spoilers for upcoming episodes have me more excited though. (So much Wilson goodness coming.) Though I must say I'm still over the whole Huddy thing and I honestly remain unaffected by the announcement that Jennifer Morrison is leaving. (There will be hell to pay if RSL ever decides to leave though.)

Well I made it through my first full week of work. It went well. I was a bit worn out by Friday, but part of that is work, being a full time student/worker (I was part time last year), dealing with BPA stuff, and starting medical coding.

I'm still happy that all the teachers on our end of the building like me. =)

I also found out Thursday that I'm Student of the Month for October. =)

In other news... saw Wolverine last night. Oh so many things to make me rage (what the hell was the point in hyping up the cast when they all lasted about 10 minutes?) And don't even get me started on Deadpool... or even Emma Frost for that matter (and I don't even care for Emma.) Naked Hugh Jackman made up for a lot though. A lot.

Spent the other night watching clips from Beatles: Rock Band and holy wow that is one pretty game. The presentation is just gorgeous. I think my favorite that I saw is Hello Goodbye because they put in the silly dancing. Oh the silly dancing...

I just realized I didn't talk about the VMAs and I feel I should at least mention that I had a giant, goofy smile on my through Muse's entire performance. I thought it was awesome and I love that they kept going and played for the people who were at their venue. (Though MTV teasing Starlight was a bitch move.)

I'm also stupidly excited for the Emmys tonight. I blame Neil Patrick Harris. I hope he knocks it out of the park. (I also want to see Hugh Laurie get some love tonight...)

And speaking of Hugh Laurie... House season premiere is tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the asylum, but I really only care about what's gonna happen after that. I sense massive amounts of Wilson goodness coming my way soon and that always, always makes me happy.

So for those who haven't heard (which would be most people)... I HAVE A JOB.

FUCK YEAH.

Technically it's work/study so I didn't exactly interview or anything and it's for the school and their desperate for people to help out the teachers so it's not like they had high standards... but still. I have a job.

My official title (according to my id card) is "secretary" but what I'm really doing is teacher help. I'm grading papers, filing papers, making copies, etc. I work part time in the mornings and I get 7.50 an hour. Monday, Wednesday, Friday I work for my teacher and on Tuesday and Thursday I work for the nursing class across the hall.

I was sort of nervous about working for the nursing class because I didn't really know the teachers. But yesterday after I finished making some copies my teacher was in the hall walking back to class and Mrs. Pierce (one of the nursing teachers) told my teacher that I was awesome. I even got loaned out to the health careers class to grade papers. (This morning the health careers teacher was in our class and told my teacher I was good. My teacher was just all "I know.")

I also finished up my training in medical office procedures and now I've started learning medical coding. The books are quite frustrating and I'm just not totally grasping the terminology, but I can handle the looking up the codes and I already know the basic breakdown of the CPT coding system. There are six of us working on coding and our teacher is trying to arrange a field trip to the Choctaw clinic here so we can see how actual coders do their work. After I finish this up I to medical transcription (which is only frustrating when dealing with the terminology.)

I also hit 113 wpm the other day. My usual speed is around the high 80s/low 90s still, but I'm getting there.

edit: Also can I just say that I feel like my confidence level has gone up at least 200 points in the last month. I actually feel good about things. It's all very odd.

[Error: unknown template qotd]Hosting Top Gear.

It'll never happen. Why can't I get paid to act silly on television?
queendork56: (Default)
[Error: unknown template qotd]No and no.

While I do read my horoscope from time to time and do tend to check the astrological compatibility of people I fancy... I'd never refuse to date someone I'm interested in just because of that.

This just in: The Resistance is amazing.

Sure a couple of tracks are a little weak, but the strong tracks more than make up for them. And sure the sound has is different, but when have they ever sounded the same from album to album? There's always a change.

All in all... great album. Might just give Absolution a run for it's money as my favorite in the long run.

I just hope we don't have to wait another three years for the next one.

Okay... so... random babble time...

I have a confession to make... I spent roughly the first 24.3 years of my life not being a fan of The Beatles.

I didn't hate them or anything like that. They just weren't my thing. I knew who they were. I knew what they did. I knew what happened to them. I knew why they were important. I could name all four of them. If I were ever randomly called up by a radio station and asked to name a dozen Beatles songs off the top of my head I could probably do it without thinking. I was enough of a passing fan to be interested in the idea of The Beatles: Rock Band. But I just didn't get it.

Then a few days ago VH1 did it's usual Rock Band thing and went into promotion overload. Suddenly it was Beatles songs mixed in with the morning video blocks and VH1 Classic jumped into the arms of Beatlemania by doing "9 Days of The Beatles" where they're showing movies, makings of, concerts, and whatnot.

Last Tuesday they showed Help!. I decided to watch it.

I wasn't expecting to like it. I was just expecting to have something fill my time for two hours while I wait for the fall television season to cure my evening boredom. But somewhere between the scene where Ringo falls out of bed and when they sing "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" I was hooked. I suddenly got "it." I got what everyone else had been getting all these years. I don't know what it was exactly, but I was left with a feeling of completely missing out on something for a very long time.

After that I took to VH1 Classic's Beatlemania like it was my own. I was watching every night. I started listening to the music. It was within record time that I completely and totally fell in love with this band and instantly became heartbroken knowing what happened to them.

And now less than a week (and 300+ plays) into my own personal (and VH1 Classic's) Beatlemaina... I have to say I'm quite enjoying it. I don't know if I have a favorite Beatle yet. Though I do seem to be quite partial to George... and John... and Ringo... and Paul...

[Error: unknown template qotd]According to my iPod I think it's "Jesus" by Gackt
According to my last.fm profile it's "Love Lockdown" by Kanye West

I don't know if I'm happy with either of those...

Also I'm highly tempted to make a long, rambling post on music one of these days...

So I signed up to do work-study at school. Basically it means I drop back to half-time in class and spend the other three hours working at the school. I'll mainly be doing teacher help, but there are times when I might be put in the office to help out. I won't start till sometime after the board meeting on the 8th though.

Class is going good. I've finished two chapters and did a two day medical office simulation and I'm currently in the middle of my first bit of transcription. Both morning and afternoon classes have filled up, but so far everyone seems really eager to do stuff. I've already had one new girl say she's interested in competing at state.

We also had elections for our BPA chapter. Since our class is technically two classes (morning and afternoon) we do two sets of officers. I was elected President for the afternoon class (since I'll be working in the mornings.) I'm really excited about it. I've never held an office in anything before so it's slightly nerve-wracking. Thankfully our teacher is awesome and I'm also good friends with the morning president (in fact we sit right next to each other.)

I gave blood on Thursday. This was the first time I've done it since high school. I got a t-shirt and tickets to the OKC zoo which I gave to a lady in class who has little ones at home.

In other news... Saw the season finale of Being Human last night. I really like how the series turned out overall. I think it's my new favorite vampire/fantasy TV series. George is easily my new favorite werewolf.

Still counting down the days till The Resistance comes out and I'm still on Muse overload. I do enjoy the Matt wallpaper on my computer at school though. It's very spiffy. Speaking of spiffy things... even if you don't like Muse you have to admit the shuffle dance is quite spiffy. Just look at that timing.

Oh and I finally broke 100 wpm typing speed~.

So I've been having some weird dreams lately... well I thought they were weird anyway...

Last night I had a dream that I started a massive country wide protest because they raised the price for cans of soda from the machines at school by 40 cents (from 60 cents to a dollar.) And that they put in a machine with bottles and were charging two bucks for 16oz bottles (when I felt they should have had 20oz bottles.) I think this all stems from the fact that I had to pay a dollar for a can of Dr. Pepper from the store the other day. I'm not sure how or why I involved the whole country though. But it was a nice show of unity. I think we even got celebrity endorsement at some point.

About a week ago I had a dream that I saw the premiere of the next series of Doctor Who (with the 11th Doctor), but that's not the weird part. The weird part is that I was watching it with the Doctor and after it was over he demanded that I give him a review of it. I remember sputtering out something about liking the bow tie and then apparently I said something wrong since he hid out in the bathroom and had to be lured out by some random lady with the promise of chocolates. (I also recall some sort of extremely girly hand holding going on between us as well.)

I don't know where this one came from. It's been at least two weeks since I saw an episode of Doctor Who or even anything Doctor Who related other than random clips of David Tennant in BBC America promo.

So school started on Wednesday. I'm a full time student this year (I was only part time last year.) We finally hammered out exactly what I need to do this year and when it needs to be done so that there are no snafus with financial aid.

Basically I'm finishing out what I'm currently training for (Medical Office Assistant) and I have to be finished with the last two sections before the beginning of December. Then I'll just straight into Administrative Medical Office and pick up medical transcription and coding to finish out the year.

A lot of last year's people came back this year so I already know most of the people in class. We're planning on putting our Administrative Support Team back together and trying state competition again (we all really want to go to Nationals in Anaheim), but one person didn't come back so we'll have to find someone to fill in or try it as a three person team.

In other news... I didn't manage to get caught up on True Blood, but I'll get there eventually. It's not like I get HBO anyway so I can't catch up and then watch it on TV.

I saw 17 Again last night. I was expecting to not really care for it (it's all been done before in various ways), but I was really surprised by how much I actually enjoyed it. Thomas Lennon was just amazing (and fuck you Comedy Central for canceling Reno 911!). I was also surprised by how much I actually liked Zac Efron. He was actually pretty good and quite charming. (And I will admit it... quite attractive.)

Also stop being a lameass.

Also also... get a haircut.

Today has not been a good day.

It started out well. I woke up and TCM was doing a Cary Grant marathon. I watched My Favorite Wife and The Awful Truth. Then my aunt decided to mow and asked me to let one of the dogs out. Our other dog takes off in the woods when you let her out of the yard, so I was holding her while I opened the fence (like I always freaking do) and she slammed into the fence which shoved it back over my big toe and ripped the nail up.

It is bad. (Feels bad anyway.) It finally stopped hurting a while ago and now I've just got to not hit it on anything (which is like trying to tell water to stop being wet.)

School is back on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to it. I really hope to be caught up on True Blood by then. I only have a handful of episodes left.

Bah... this entry feels short.
queendork56: (Default)
I got a call from my teacher today telling me that I made in this year and that classes start on the 12th. I actually get to go full time this year which means I'll actually have time to work on stuff. I'm looking forward to telling everyone how Nationals went and start the poking early to get people wanting to go next year.

I watched The Soloist and Sense and Sensibility last night. The Soloist wasn't bad. I admit that I was mostly on board for Robert Downey, Jr. and he did not disappoint. Sense and Sensibility was very good. I watched the 1995 version with Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman. I'm not huge on Alan Rickman usually, but UNF I say... UNF. Loved Hugh Laurie as Mr. Palmer.

On the True Blood front I'm up through episode five of season two. Jason has officially become my favorite character. I was won over when he turned and looked out the window after what's-his-face said "there's a war going on out there." And "Evil is the premedicated choice to be a dick." might just be the best line ever. I'm planning on being caught up soon and then it's onto 30 Rock.

Also Muse's new single is awesome. I cannot wait for September.
