[let us believe in the future]

Buh. Still trying to catch up on stuff. My paid account died during my absence, but I'm getting it back in two weeks. That'll give me time to work on the xxxHOLiC layout and mood theme I'm wanting. :)
But for now... Movie meme time! *dances* (It's a double feature this time!) As always these have none to very, very minor spoilers.
In 2006 I will watch 100 movies and post my thoughts about them here on LJ.

Movie #4 -- xxxHOLiC: Manatsu no Yoru no Yume (A Midsummer Night’s Dream)
The movie brought me such joy! Everything was great. The animation, the artwork, the voice acting, the music... amazing. I'm very impressed that Production I.G. was able to pull off the "feel" of xxxHOLiC. The character design was true to the manga (long, lanky bodies... the heads a bit too small though) and might be a bit off-putting, but you get used to it pretty quickly. The story was totally original, but the character were all behaving like they should be. Several moments which happen at random times in the manga were stuck in (like Mokona hiding while Watanuki is dusting outside). The animation got a bit... trippy when supernatural things were going on, but all in all it was good. (And Watanuki's angry faces are still cute.)
The movie got me pumped up for the TV series in April. (I'm expecting good things from the xxxHOLiC anime now.) Oh and Kazuya Nakai... totally rocked as Doumeki.

Movie #5 -- Tsubasa Chronicle: Nendaiki Torikago no Kuni no Himegimi (Chronicle of the Bird Cage Land Princess)
Production I.G. also handled the Tsubasa movie which crosses over (very slightly) with the xxxHOLiC movie. This movie is short. And I mean short, but that mere 35 minutes totally blew the Tsubasa TV series out of the water. (The Tsubasa TV series sucks. Bad character designs, bad changing of the manga storyline... just plain bad.) The character designs are much nicer than the TV series and it actually improves on the dialogue of the TV series. Characters act a bit closer to their manga counterparts. The animation is good and the story is pretty interesting... the downside is the length. The story felt very rushed because of the run time and leaves you wanting a little somethiing more (like more Kurogane and Fai!) The thing I liked the most though is that the Tsubasa movie remembers that even though this story is about getting Sakura's memory back... the story is more about Syaoran... so that means no randomly inserting Sakura into the climax scene!! (Oh and Fai gets to hit on Kurogane.)
All in the all the movie was good, but disappointing to see what could have been when it comes to Tsubasa animation. (Curse you Bee Train! Curse you and you're potential cutting of the Sharano/Shurano country arc! *shakes fist*)
And I've still got to ramble on about FMA chapter 57, but I'll save that for tomorrow. :P (I also wanna cap the xxxHOLiC and Tsuabsa movies.)
