Oct. 6th, 2006 10:00 amOkay so I just finished up Ergo Proxy... not as head-hurting as I was expecting, but still confusing.
It was a long, strange, sometimes bumpy ride. From being way too dark (as in lighting) in the beginning to having whole episodes that just totally confused me... I wil say that it had the best infodump episode I've seen (the quiz show) and episode 16 was one of the finest things I've ever seen, even though it accomplished nothing. Pino and Vincent were just so adorable (Kouji Yusa was just wonderful as Vincent) and Real's bitchiness was even nice. I ended up feeling totally horrible for Raul though. He got royally screwed in the end. Poor guy.
I'm definitely gonna have to watch it again... and probably dubbed with subtitles on so I can both read and hear it. But at least the dub will have the awesome Liam O'Brien (Maniwa, Paranoia Agent; Gaara, Naruto) as Vincent and (one of my new favorites) Patrick Seitz (Isshin, Bleach; Charles, Eureka seveN) as Raul.
All in all it was a very good second project from Manglobe. Shukou Murase did a very good job with the direction (and it did give me Witch Hunter Robin vibes from time to time.) And once again Dai Sato owns me with his writing. (He does the small character moments so well.)
