[beware the groove..... groooove]
Aug. 24th, 2005 05:56 pmOkay... I've been doing my Bleach caps for a while now. I took a break, but I'm really ready to pick it back up and keep it going. I've wondering about some things though.
I've itching to go back and do the episodes I missed or never got a chance to do. Only one problem: the raws are pretty much gone or dead torrents. Should I just go ahead and use fansubs or should I just not do it? Would it still be as entertaining with subtitles on some of the caps?
Then there is where to do it... I like having all the comments in one place as much as possible, but I've been wondering if I should keep doing it here in my journal or maybe start a community and do it there. It would be easier to manage them all if they were together. (Even though I'm tagging them it's still easier to deal with them in one place.) I still have some of the caps for some of the episodes I've done, but some got deleted to make room for others. I still have the scripits so it wouldn't be hard to take them again.
Then the big issue: Picture hosting. Image Shack died on me twice yesterday when I was uploading the caps for 46. I'm a broke mofo so paying for image hosting is out. Same problem with hosting zip files. YouSendIt is temporary and Mega Upload doesn't work with everyone and I can't keep the zips on my computer because my memory is still a problem.
Hmmm... my biggest questions though are: Would it still be funny with subtitles? and Should I move it to a community?

Date: 2005-08-24 04:09 pm (UTC)I could always just say "once the zip goes down... it's gone, so get it while the gettings good." ^_^

Date: 2005-08-24 06:59 pm (UTC)Subtitles aren't really going to matter, I don't think. I mostly just glance at the thumbs when I read the screencaps, and despite having seen the episodes already, your captions are usually so amusing that I don't think it would make a difference. :)
I would make a community. You're probably getting enough traffic from people interested in reading them to make a separate community worthwhile. It'd be easier for people to go back, if they wanted to, rather than trying to search through your journal, though having tags does help.
I don't have too many suggestions about your big problem, though. Image and zip hosting tends to be a problem for a lot of people. I like photobucket, but there is still some limitations for free accounts.
Oh, and on a related note, Emperor's New Groove is one of my favorite Disney movies, too, and that's one of my favorite lines from it! XD

Date: 2005-08-24 07:00 pm (UTC)And about zip files... that is a problem. Perhaps you could put up a request for people to reupload them if they have the time, so you can have several mirror links? Or maybe you could ask if anyone has webspace/bandwidth you could borrow. (I'd offer to host them, but my domain expires soon and I'm having a spot of trouble with renewal, so I've no idea how long it'll be functional, unfortunately. >_<)
What about LJ's own image hosting for the individual caps? I don't use it much, but it seems reliable so far... or you could try GJ's, which is pretty good.

Date: 2005-08-24 07:19 pm (UTC)I think on the zips... since I use just about every cap I take I may just say "there's a zip, but it will expire soon... but these are the caps" or something... I figure that out when I get there. >_>
LJ's hosting is pretty good, but I think they have a space limit.
