Remember yesterday when I said I wanted to rant about something but I was too tired to think of anything? Well what I wanted to rant about was the constant discussion of is Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell a lesbian. While she is a bisexual... I just don't see the point in talking about it. Does it take away from her character? No. Does it change the fact that she's the best Section 9 has to offer? No. Does it change the fact that she's totally kick-ass? No. (Okay, so that was a mini-rant.) But I was giving a totally new reason to rant today on the [adult swim] boards. It seems that there are a number of "Which is better: Fullmetal Alchemist or Inuyasha?" threads going around. I see this as pointless. I finally sounded off on it today. One member called me "the wisest person they've seen on the Internet in a long time" (Which is weird cause I'm usually just random...)

I'm gonna throw my two cents in....

I like both Fullmetal Alchemist and Inuyasha. (gasp, shock!) While one may rate higher than the other it doesn't take away from either one of them. Inuyasha was the first anime I saw on [adult swim], that first night of watching the action block is what hooked me onto anime. While I enjoyed Inuyasha it wasn't my favorite. (Lupin III was.) But as Inuyasha went along I started to like it more. While the show has gotten repeative and full of fillers, I have been told that the storyline does start to pick up around episode 90. I will probably watch each and every episode of Inuyasha (all 167 of them) and all of the movies and anything else that follows because I want to see what happens to certain characters.

I got into Fullmetal Alchemist through the manga. It was, in fact, the first manga I had ever tried to read. I got hooked after the second chapter. I love all of the characters and the storyline of FMA. It just pulls on my heartstings and I love it. I never know what to expect and that's what keeps me entertained.

I like both Inuyasha and FMA for entirely different reasons. Inuyasha is something I can watch that will usually make me feel a bit better by the end of the episode. Something in it always makes me giggle (even in the fillers no one seems to like...) If I need to feel better... I watch Inuyasha. Fullmetal Alchemist is something that keeps my brain firing through the whole episode. I'm constantly thinking about events in the episode and trying to piece together the puzzle. (This is also why I love Witch Hunter Robin and Ghost in the Shell)

I don't feel need (or even see the reason) for people to compare FMA and Inuyasha to each other. The shows are nothing alike. The storylines are totally different. The characters are totally different. The goals of the characters are light years apart. I think the only time we need to compare two shows to each other is if they have very similar plots and characters. Anything else is a bit pointless...
