So at the beginning of the episode there was this flashback/recap thing that told you all the stuff that has happened. It only lasted for about two-three minutes. I didn't watch it and I didn't cap it so...

I think the reason I enjoy this fight so much is because of all the strategy and countering each others weakness they do.

Although I have to admit that holding off a ban kai (even a baby one) with just a unreleased Soul Cutter is pretty cool.

Which is another case of using a weakness. Renji came from the 11th Division and never really had to deal with someone throwing in some demon arts in the middle of a fight.

I like the way they did this. They used the side by side image the manga used during the second opening and I was wondering if they'd use the same thing for this. I like this though.

Byakuya is no longer mildly annoyed!

Renji makes one last charge toward Byakuya...

I really wonder what was going on in Byakuya's head during this fight.

Renji is making a bloody charge so what do we do? We go flashbacking!!

Ikkaku! I wonder if the whole headband thing was Ikkaku's present to Renji after he left the 11th.

Renji is still bleeding.

Kira! I pick on him so much. Mostly because he was a dork before he became a vice captain and now his hair is eating his face.

We have to have some Rukia in all this flashbacking.

Either Byakuya is shorter than I thought or Rukia is taller than I thought...

Everything went all black and white again. Someone must be bleeding (or bleeding more)

This reminds me of the Kaien flashback where you see the blood splatter on Rukia's face.

Oh, forgot. Side note...

Renji doesn't will away his ban kai, it disperses because he can't maintain all of it anymore (Byakuya explains this), therefore it makes sense that the outfit is still there up until he actually loses conscienceness. It's sort of signifying that he still has the will to fight/is still alive. He wants ban kai, but can't support it, therefore everything he can't support leaves, so he's just barely capable of keeping his sword reformed in an unreleased state and the outfit in existence (sort of unconciously). This also explains why every part of his ban kai is gone when he wakes up again during Hanatarou's treatment. (which, btw, I'm pretty sure that's Unohana's shadow. Was that in the manga? If so, I totally missed it Oo; )

Yep that's Unohana. In the manga she was at the hill with Isane watching the execution and Rikichi sneaks into the 4th Division while they're having 11th Division difficulties and breaks Hanatarou out of jail to help Renji.
