Bleach caps... I know I said yesterday, but I got bored. Not nearly as funny as usual, but hey... what're you gonna do?

Bleach episode 55 "The Strongest Shinigami! Ultimate Confrontation Between Teacher and Student" thumbed caps behind the cut.

Spoilers for the whole episode.

When we were last here Ichigo had saved Rukia from execution, thrown her a Renji, took down some vice captains, and got to know Byakuya's sword.

In the orange corner... the challenger: Kurosaki Ichigo!

And in the blue corner... the reigning champ: Kuchiki Byakuya!

Who will come out victorious in this grudge match?

I don't know about you... but I'm putting my money on the spunky hero with the big ass weapon...

I love the whole "reflection in the sword" thing. It's always spiffy to me.

Byakuya... this is no time for a nap.

Ichigo checks his hair.

And the glowing starts....

And I'm blind. :|

Ichigo doesn't seem too worried though...

And back, back, back they go...

Whee! (Byakuya's sword looks longer than it normally does... compenstating?)

Ichigo needs a superhero name.

And the face off... (Byakuya is sorta looking a bit "Wicked Witch of the West" again, but thankfully not like when he had Renji throw in jail. I'm still having problems getting over that.)

Ichigo still doesn't look too worried.

Byakuya leg!

Byakuya shows off his freshly shampooed hair... again.

I love Ichigo and his orange eyebrows.

Ichigo 2.0 (Quincy 2.0 still looks better, IMO.)

And the attack starts!

Too bad we're not gonna see it! Instead we're gonna see Renji (who is still running like he told Byakuya he got Rukia pregnant... except he's pretty much jogging now) and Rukia who is throwing off Renji's concentration.

Isane is still down after getting hit by Ichigo. (Mean, old Ichigo beating up girls!)

Kiyone rushes to check on her sister and Kotsubaki chases after her. (Kotsubaki/Kiyone = ?)

Oh noes! Kotsubaki got stopped by someone!

Yeah.... this isn't gonna end well for them...

Soi Fong is gonna put a hurting some 13th Division members.

Stare off!

Ukitake rushes to save his subordinates! (Why are his people the one who always get screwed over?)

But he gets stopped!

Oh crap....

....because they've brought about the wrath of Yama.

I'm gonna get my shampoo taken away from me again.

Ukitake is one of the few characters whose hair flips to the left. (Byakuya, Rukia, Kira... right, right, right)

But Ukitake stops her.

Oh noes! Yama opened his eyes!

Shunsui thinks they should make a hasty retreat before Yama tears the house down.

They left Nanao~chan behind!

And why are we speeding toward the ground, you manic?

I thought you were the smart one! Why wasn't "don't mess with Yama" on the first page of that big book of randomness? (Which I just noticed she lost somewhere between the end of 54 and the beginning of 55... o_O)

All of these eye close ups in the anime and the manga kinda freak me... I keep waiting for the camera to put someone's eye out or something.

Back when Shunsui was in school he chased all the girls around... and all I can say is WTF is wrong with those girls?

I mean look at that! If a guy who looked like that chased me around school trying to kiss me I probably wouldn't object. No loving for Academy!Shunsui....

Back when Ukitake was in school he was super popular... and again I say WTF is wrong with these girls?

Ukitake is totally a hot smart guy! Where's his fan club? Where's his gaggle of girl ooglers? And look at that hair! No loving for Academy!Ukitake...

But while they were off getting no loving... Yama was training them to be the badasses that they are today. (Okay... so maybe not "badasses" but still totally awesome dudes.)

Weirdest shot ever... why include Yama's head? It makes me want to giggle...

I wish Shunsui's character design was consistant... he looks different with almost every close up.

Ukitake hasn't always looked this good in the anime, sadly. He looked strange for almost the whole of episode 49. The animators have really stepped up on him over the past two episodes, which makes me a happy fangirl. :D
